The leader of the Cuban Government is Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz. He is the current president of Cuba. Castro led the revolution and he also overthrew the able Fulgencio Batista in the year 1959. Afterwards he was selected as the prime minister of Cuba. In the year 1976, he not only became the President of the Council of States, but also the Council of Ministers.

From the day of his ascent, he gained tremendous amount of praise as well as blame from the people, especially from the Batista and the United States political and corporate influence in Cuba. The attack that he made on 1953 on the Moncada Barracks failed subsequently. He was captured after this event and released after a period of time. When he was released, he gathered the various forces and prepared a guerilla force to attack Cuba.

Some people consider Castro as an enigmatic leader. But the opponents are of the different view. They consider Castro as a dictator. But there are people belonging to his own party who consider him capable enough and enigmatic leader as well.
